STOP THE LANDFILL

ANY landfill of Lake MI done to satisfy the desires of the FOTP would ultimately change many Chicago tax payers' proximity and relationship to the lake shore, impact their property taxes negatively, and affect the lake's fragile ecosystem.

What is the ASCO (Association of Sheridan Condo/Co-op Owners) position?

All indications suggest that ASCO does, in fact, support the FOTP landfill endeavor but we can't tell for sure because they won't respond to any questions posed to them on this issue.

It is very important that we know the ASCO position since many Sheridan Road residents pay dues as condo associations for ASCO to lobby upon our behalf in some situations.

While these documents are not conclusive in their suggestion, they are interesting to note.  ASCO may not support the FOTP on this current landfill initiative but we need to find out their official position for the record since they supposedly represent us.

FIRST ATTACHED DOCUMENT

It is somewhat disturbing that ASCO has been "sponsoring" presentations for the FOTP.  These voluteer architectural planners are approaching or "pitching" this situation as a "fait accompli".  Take note of the 1st document showing text from the ASCO web site from a few months ago.  It is worth noting that ASCO was and still is sponsoring events promoting advocates for only ONE SIDE of this proposition.

SECOND ATTACHED DOCUMENT

The FOTP has listed ASCO in the "Friends Indeed" section of their annual report as a financial contributor.   This example report lists one specific instance as "Sheli Lulkin, c/o ASCO".  Again, while this specific donation of support may not specifically mean ASCO supports the lake front initiative, we certainly deserve clarity on the issue.

The Chicago Tribune seems to suggest that ASCO supports the FOTP.  (Click here)
