Antique text
Literally, the Daniel Burnham plan really is an antique text. The FOTP would like to suggest that it is almost an unalterable text, as if it were a religious text. You can see the actual text for yourself by clicking here.
Friends of the Parks has, as Professor Carl Smith of Northwestern University correctly notes, interpreted Burnham's Plan in an orthodox, literal, non-thinking manner, in pursuit of their own objectives, which are narrow and elitist at best.
