STOP THE LANDFILL

ANY landfill of Lake MI done to satisfy the desires of the FOTP would ultimately change many Chicago tax payers' proximity and relationship to the lake shore, impact their property taxes negatively, and affect the lake's fragile ecosystem.

Friends of the park?

With "friends" like these, who needs enemies?

There are FIVE parks on Sheridan Road between Hollywood & Devon.  Four of those parks are on the East side of the street directly upon the water.  Does that six block stretch sound "park poor" to you?

The FOTP plan would basically eliminate what we know as
Kathy Osterman Beach.  (some call it Hollywood Beach)  One proposed scenario would have a lagoon in front of it.  The beach extends from Hollywood (5700 N) to Thorndale (about 6000 N).  This is a public beach located directly in the "endangered zone" for the FOTP's landfill plans needed for the LSD extension. Real families and neighborhood people go to this beach, unlike the  Gold Coast elitists that want so badly to take this treasure away from us.  Edgewater is the most culturally diverse neighborhood in Chicago and also Chicago's most densely populated neighborhood.  This beach is a valuable resource that MUST NOT be lost to the FOTP.  Click here to see what it is like now.

Berger park is a Chicago park district park located on Sheridan Road and is also located directly upon the beach in the "endangered zone".  It is a beautiful experience for children to play there.  What do we tell the children when they ask us why we let the FOTP extend  Lake Shore Drive (US Route 41) right next to their playground?
