STOP THE LANDFILL

ANY landfill of Lake MI done to satisfy the desires of the FOTP would ultimately change many Chicago tax payers' proximity and relationship to the lake shore, impact their property taxes negatively, and affect the lake's fragile ecosystem.

FOTP LIE # 1 :

" MOST RESIDENTS ARE UNABLE TO EASILY ACCESS THE BEACHES AND LAKEFRONT PARKS" Erma Tranter, Edgewater meeting Fact Sheet, 6/18/08 (repeated numerous times in newspaper interviews and articles and the sham FOTP public meetings.

TRUTH # 1: Take a look below at the "lake Access" photo, where we added a pin at each access point to the beach and park. In total there are at least 29 of them from Evanston to Foster Avenue. Most are but a block apart. The lineal feet from Evanston to Foster is 16,669 feet. Thats one for every 574 feet.

For comparison purposes, in the 27,694 feet from Oak Street Beach to Foster Avenue, there are 14 entrances to the beaches and parks. Thats one for every 1978 feet!

Has anyone heard from Erma Tranter regarding the lack of beach and park access from Oak Street to Foster Avenue? Has she or her group of zealots advocated for funding to increase such access? FACT: Tranter's silence is deafening!
