STOP THE LANDFILL

ANY landfill of Lake MI done to satisfy the desires of the FOTP would ultimately change many Chicago tax payers' proximity and relationship to the lake shore, impact their property taxes negatively, and affect the lake's fragile ecosystem.

FOTP LIE # 2 :

"THE NEIGHBORHOOD IS PARK POOR...ADDITIONAL PARKS ARE NEEDED" Erma Tranter, Edgewater meeting Fact sheet, 6/18/08 (repeated ad nauseum in newspaper articles and interviews)

TRUTH #2: Please review the Edgewater and Rogers Park Parks photos below, with the area parks denoted by pins. In contrast to the absurd lie of Tranter and her zealots, the areas are literally papered with parks and beaches along the lakefront. Additionally, there are many, many parks situated throughout the neighborhoods. If Tranter were really interested in the welfare of the neighborhoods, she would recommend more efforts toward converting space west of Sheridan Road to neighborhood parks where they can be used, not increasing the capacity of the lakeshore parks, which currently are operating at 1 or 2 % of capacity.

Interestingly, the famed Oak Street Beach is actually only about 2/3 the size of Osterman  / George Lane beaches. Yet, Oak Street is used to a much greater degree.

So if Edgewater and Rogers Park are in need of additional beach resources, why isn't Oak Street?

Has anyone heard from Tranter regarding the inadequate size of Oak Street beach, and the need to expand it? FACT: Tranter's silence is deafening.
