THE SMOKING GUN ASCO VIOLATES THEIR OWN ARTICLES OF INCORPORATION
We have long speculated that ASCO has not properly represented its membership on the issue of lakefront expansion. Stopthelandfill.org contains several key instances that provide factual data in support of our assertion.
Now, we have even more: the amendment to ASCO articles of incorporation which specifically states that “ASCO shall take no action detrimentally affecting a member association”. This amendment was duly filed with and recorded by the State of Illinois Secretary of State on January 12, 1993.
The amendment was submitted by Sheli Lulkin, President of ASCO.
Our membership has attempted to secure the full bylaws of ASCO from them. They were told that the bylaws were “lost”. You can draw your own conclusions.
Sheli Lulkin, ASCO president, in her official capacity, has supported lakefront expansion for two decades, most recently in January, 2008. Her statements, when juxtaposed with the amendment, show unequivocally that ASCO is not representing the interests of the membership, and is in fact representing a point of view that is detrimental to the membership. It is in violation of its own articles of incorporation. It has not queried its membership, nor has it informed its membership of various public meetings on this issue, so it could not possibly have determined what its membership’s views were or are.
The views of ASCO are really the views of Sheli Lulkin. She is continually quoted not as representing herself, but as representing ASCO.
Sheli Lulkin cannot know the views of the ASCO membership, since she has never asked for them.
Sheli Lulkin knowingly violates the amendment to the articles of incorporation of ASCO of January 12, 1993.
To rely on ASCO jeopardizes the interests of condominiums throughout the impact zone.
It is time to get the word out to all parties that when ASCO speaks, no one should listen!
